Sister Helen, author of the book Dead Man Walking, which was made into a film by Tim Robbins staring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, visited Georgia this January.
She spoke at the Milledgeville Country Club to the Learning and Retirement group connected to Milledgeville College and State University on January 15, 2002.
The next day she spoke to press about her book and her work at the Amnesty International Southern Regional Office in Atlanta. Later that evening she addressed an audience of about 300 at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta as part of their conference on Urban Ministries.
A record number of people heard her speak at Mercer University in Macon on Thursday, January 17. Amnesty International Macon University Group reports that about 1000 people were in attendance.
