Exit down the escalator to the street level. Exit on the Piedmont Rd. side. Turn left out of the station and head up hill one block – you’ll be right at the Capitol. To get to the front side, take a right onto MLK and a left onto Washington.
Five Points StationExit on the Underground Atlanta/Peachtree St. side. Come out of the station onto P’tree. Cross over to the other side of the street. You will see Alabama Street slightly to your right. This is the brick-paved street above Underground Atlanta that is closed off to cars. Walk all the way down Alabama (2 or 3 blocks) until it dead-ends onto Central Ave. You’ll see the large dolphin mural painted on the side of a parking garage off to the left. Turn right on Central and walk down a block. Turn left onto MLK, then up hill two blocks to Washington – make a right to the front of the capitol.
Parking: there are pay-lots around the area and street parking is available but very scarce. There’s a lot for Underground Atlanta if you turn left onto MLK Dr. and go down two blocks (on your right) (sometimes this lot is only open to monthly permit owners. Another lot is on Courtland, two blocks north of the capitol. If you are headed south down Courtland (which is a one-way street), you will cross Edgwood and Gilmer going through the heart of Georgia State University. There are two parking lots just past the GSU buildings just before the capitol on your right. The first lot is for visitors (the 2nd one is for students and monthly permit owners). Cost is $5. Another lot is on Peachtree St. near the corner of Mitchell St. If you are heading south down Peachtree, turn right into the first lot after you cross Mitchell. The lot has a paybox and costs $3.75 (you'll need exact change (bills are ok). From the lot, cross Peachtree and turn right onto Mitchell and head down past the Atlanta City Council building. You'll see the capitol to your left -- you won't miss it! (Mitchell is a one-way street)
